Just returned from a week’s stay at these cottages and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had the small Ramshaw Rock cottage for 2 people , plenty of space and with a well equipped kitchenette . As the weather was very warm we found the thick walls of the cottage kept the worst of the heat out , it was lovely and cool . Very comfortable bed and plenty of storage space , the garden with its table and chairs were perfect t for sitting out in the evening.

Superb Cottage

Can not fault this property at all. It had everything we needed for our break away with our 2 dogs. Warm and cosy just perfect for 2 people. Clean and well equipped… even down to having somewhere to clean the dogs off after some very muddy walks around the local area! The hosts were very friendly, knowledgable and welcoming. A perfect place for anyone who wishes to explore some of the beautiful Peak District

Clean, cosy and comfortable

Probably the cleanest self catering accommodation we’ve stayed in. Easy to find, a warm welcome and a lovely place to come back to in the evening. And dog friendly too.

Great cottage, fantastic little break

We would definitely recommend this cottage as a couple with two dogs looking to explore the Peak District for the first time. Great location, home from home feel with everything we needed – very clean, warm and cozy, which was perfect to come back to after we had been out exploring. Carolyn and her partner were lovely, helpful and friendly. We’ll definitely be looking to rebook perhaps this summer or next. Thank you for a lovely stay – just what was needed for the soul!

Lovely accommodation in a great location

Could not rate our stay highly enough. The cottage we stayed in was the perfect size for a couple and our 2 dogs (Springer and Yorkie). The other available cottages on site are bigger and would be great for groups/families. The private garden area was handy for the dogs and there is a shared area where dogs can be cleaned. The hosts of the cottage were extremely accommodating and we felt very welcome in their property. The area that these cottages is in has many walks which includes hiking trails across the roaches as well as easier walks such as the tittesworth reservoir, all this is 10 mins away by car and there is ample free parking. We will be staying here in the future! Big thanks to the hosts for our wonderful stay.

Excellent stay at The Roaches (4 adults 1 child) while visiting nearby family. Communication with Christine and Dean was excellent. Very friendly and welcoming.

Second time my wife and I with our grandson and our dog dollie stayed in the roaches perfectly clean everything you need and a large play area for children or dogs to run around in, we love it here and I know dollie does you can’t get her back in lol, Christine & Dean super friendly and if you need anything just ask

This was our 4th time we stayed at The roaches, . The roaches is lovely and spacious. We cannot fault it. It is lovely and clean, it feels very welcoming. It was an amazing place to stay . The hosts were very considerate in every way. Leaving chocolates and wine. Also.if we needed anything they were very contactable. The area has lots of places you can walk too. It has a lovely feel. We have already booked our next visit with them.

Charming, cosy & comfortable

Wonderful place to stay, quiet and tranquil. The cottage was beautifully decorated, warm, cosy and comfortable. Well equipped and well maintained. Had plenty of provisions such as toilet rolls, washing up liquid, dishwasher detergent. The property comfortably accommodated 4x adults and 2x children. Lovely large, enclosed private garden. Great hosts.

Bigger than you think!

Such a lovely, cosy cottage. Bigger than pictures portrayed, lots of room for the 4 of us. Warmly welcomed even though we unexpectedly arrived very late. Owners were really nice, on hand but not intrusive. Will definitely be staying again.

A very comfortable cottage equipped with everything I needed. It had a good location for exploring the beautiful countryside nearby.

Had a lovely few nights with my friend and her daughter in the Winking Man cottage at Blackshaw Grange.

The cottage was warm and cosy and had everything we needed, and Christine and her husband were so lovely and welcoming.

This area has everything you need, fab walks with great views, a reservoir with watersports in the summer, pubs in walking distance with lovely food ( and even a spa at one of them!) and obviously Leek, Buxton and Bakewell for nice for a little mooch. Hopefully we’ll return in the future, as it’s a great place as a base to explore the area. Thanks for a lovely relaxing break! Xx

A wonderfully peaceful getaway

The place is perfectly located for exploring the countryside and towns nearby. It was comfy and cosy and had everything we needed.

Comfortable break

Lovely place to stay, very clean and comfortable. We were surprised by surrounding area as it’s not in the peaks but plenty of lovely walks nearby. Only downside was lack of own outdoor space for the pooch, however the owners let us use the garden to another property when not rented and even went so far as to offer the use of their own garden . Couldn’t have been more helpful. Fab area to do washing and clean off boots and dogs. Would definitely recommend a as bc hopefully will be going back soon.

Beautiful location.

My partner, myself and my son stayed here for a week. We chose the location for hiking and bike riding and was not disappointed. The cottage we had was quite small but this didn’t really matter as we were out most of the time, it had everything we needed from comfy beds, washing machine and tumble dryer (separate from the cottage), TV, games in the cupboard which were a nice touch for something to do in the evenings….basically it was home to home. You do need to drive to get around the area but it was perfect for what we needed and we will certainly return in the future.

Highly recommended

Spotlessly clean, well equipped, cosy & ideally located for exploring The Peak District. Lovely hosts whose thoughtful touches like milk, wine and chocolates went a long way! You’d be hard pressed to find fault with this excellent accommodation which was also very reasonably priced. A great find, we will definitely book again. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay on our memory-making trip.

nice apartment in a great location

We had a superb short break at this apartment. Excellent location for walking the Roaches etc. The apartment was warm. The beds were very comfortable with top quality bedding. It was equipped with everything the 3 of us needed for our stay. The chocolates, wine and milk were a nice touch and the owners were extremely friendly and helpful. There was a good facility for washing muddy boots that was most welcome after a long walk as well as washing machine and tumble dryer. We would love to visit again !!
